성경말씀: 신명기 31:1-8

1 모세가 모든 이스라엘 백성에게 이 말씀을 다시 전했습니다. 2 “나는 이제 백이십 세요. 이제는 더 이상 여러분 앞에 나설 수 없소. 여호와께서는 내가 요단 강을 건널 수 없다고 말씀하셨소. 3 그러나 여러분의 하나님 여호와께서 몸소 건너가셔서 여러분을 위해 저 나라들을 멸망시키실 것이오. 그래서 여러분이 그 땅을 차지할 수 있게 해 주실 것이오. 그리고 여호와께서 말씀하신 대로 여호수아가 여러분 앞에서 저 강을 건너갈 것이오. 4 여호와께서는 시혼과 옥에게 하신 일을 이 나라들에게도 하실 것이오. 그들은 아모리 사람들의 왕이었는데 여호와께서 그들과 그들의 땅을 멸망시키셨소. 5 여호와께서 저 나라들을 여러분에게 주실 것이니, 내가 명령한 대로 그들에게 하시오. 6 마음을 굳세게 하고 용감히 행하시오. 그들을 두려워하지 마시오. 놀라지 마시오. 여러분의 하나님 여호와께서 여러분과 함께하실 것이오. 여러분을 떠나지도 않고 버리지도 않으실 것이오.” 7 모세가 여호수아를 불러서 온 이스라엘이 보는 앞에서 말했습니다. “마음을 굳세게 하고 용기를 내어라. 이 백성을 여호와께서 그 조상에게 약속하신 땅으로 인도하여라. 이 백성을 도와 그 땅을 차지할 수 있게 하여라. 8 여호와께서 친히 네 앞에서 가시며 너와 함께하실 것이다. 너를 떠나지도 않고 버리지도 않으실 것이다. 두려워하지 마라. 걱정하지 마라.” (쉬운성경)

1 When Moses had finished giving these instructions① to all the people of Israel, / ①{As in Dead Sea Scrolls and Greek version; Masoretic Text reads Moses went and spoke} 2 he said, "I am now 120 years old, and I am no longer able to lead you. The LORD has told me, 'You will not cross the Jordan River.' 3 But the LORD your God himself will cross over ahead of you. He will destroy the nations living there, and you will take possession of their land. Joshua will lead you across the river, just as the LORD promised. 4 "The LORD will destroy the nations living in the land, just as he destroyed Sihon and Og, the kings of the Amorites. 5 The LORD will hand over to you the people who live there, and you must deal with them as I have commanded you. 6 So be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid and do not panic before them. For the LORD your God will personally go ahead of you. He will neither fail you nor abandon you." 7 Then Moses called for Joshua, and as all Israel watched, he said to him, "Be strong and courageous! For you will lead these people into the land that the LORD swore to their ancestors he would give them. You are the one who will divide it among them as their grants of land. 8 Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the LORD will personally go ahead of you. He will be with you; he will neither fail you nor abandon you." (New Living Translation)

1 일곱째 달이 되자, 이스라엘 백성은 모두 자기 마을에 자리잡고 살게 되었습니다. 이스라엘의 모든 백성이 ‘물 문’ 앞 광장에 모였습니다. 그들은 제사장이자 학자인 에스라에게 여호와께서 이스라엘에게 주신 모세의 율법책을 읽어 줄 것을 요청했습니다. 2 그래서 제사장 에스라가 무리를 위해 율법책을 가져왔습니다. 그 때는 일곱째 달 초하루였습니다. 남녀노소 누구나 듣고 깨달을 만한 사람은 다 모여들었습니다. 3 에스라는 ‘물 문’ 앞 광장에서 이른 아침부터 한낮까지 율법책을 소리 내어 읽었습니다. 에스라는 듣고 깨달을 만한 모든 사람에게 율법책을 읽어 주었고, 그들은 율법책의 말씀에 귀를 기울였습니다. 4 에스라는 높은 나무 단 위에 섰습니다. 그 나무 단은 이번 일을 위해 따로 만든 것이었습니다. 에스라의 오른쪽에는 맛디댜와 스마와 아나야와 우리야와 힐기야와 마아세야가 섰고, 왼쪽에는 브다야와 미사엘과 말기야와 하숨과 하스밧다나와 스가랴와 므술람이 섰습니다. 5 에스라가 율법책을 폈습니다. 에스라가 높은 데에 서 있었기 때문에 누구나 다 그를 볼 수 있었습니다. 에스라가 책을 펴자, 모든 백성이 자리에서 일어섰습니다. 6 에스라가 위대하신 하나님 여호와를 찬양했습니다. 그러자 모든 백성들이 손을 들고 “아멘! 아멘!” 하고 말하면서 엎드려 얼굴을 땅에 대고 여호와께 경배하였습니다. 7 낭독을 듣기 위해 서 있는 백성들에게 레위 사람인 예수아와 바니와 세레뱌와 야민과 악굽과 사브대와 호디야와 마아세야와 그리다와 아사랴와 요사밧과 하난과 블라야가 율법을 가르쳐 주었습니다. 8 그들은 하나님의 율법책을 백성들이 알아듣기 쉽게 읽어 주었습니다. 그리고 그 뜻을 설명해 주었으므로 백성들은 그들이 읽어 주는 말씀을 깨달았습니다. 9 그런 뒤에 총독 느헤미야와 제사장이자 학자인 에스라, 그리고 백성들을 가르치던 레위 사람들이 모든 백성에게 말했습니다. “오늘은 여러분의 하나님 여호와의 거룩한 날이오. 울거나 슬퍼하지 마시오.” 그들이 이 말을 한 것은 백성들이 율법의 말씀을 들으면서 울었기 때문입니다. 10 느헤미야가 말했습니다. “가서 기름진 음식을 먹고 좋은 음료수를 드십시오. 그리고 아무 것도 먹을 것이 없는 사람에게는 먹을 것을 주십시오. 오늘은 거룩한 날이오. 슬퍼하지 마시오. 여호와를 기뻐하는 것이 곧 여러분에게 힘이 될 것이오.” (쉬운성경)

1 all the people assembled with a unified purpose at the square just inside the Water Gate. They asked Ezra the scribe to bring out the Book of the Law of Moses, which the LORD had given for Israel to obey. 2 So on October 8 Ezra the priest brought the Book of the Law before the assembly, which included the men and women and all the children old enough to understand. 3 He faced the square just inside the Water Gate from early morning until noon and read aloud to everyone who could understand. All the people listened closely to the Book of the Law. 4 Ezra the scribe stood on a high wooden platform that had been made for the occasion. To his right stood Mattithiah, Shema, Anaiah, Uriah, Hilkiah, and Maaseiah. To his left stood Pedaiah, Mishael, Malkijah, Hashum, Hashbaddanah, Zechariah, and Meshullam. 5 Ezra stood on the platform in full view of all the people. When they saw him open the book, they all rose to their feet. 6 Then Ezra praised the LORD, the great God, and all the people chanted, "Amen! Amen!" as they lifted their hands. Then they bowed down and worshiped the LORD with their faces to the ground. 7 The Levites - Jeshua, Bani, Sherebiah, Jamin, Akkub, Shabbethai, Hodiah, Maaseiah, Kelita, Azariah, Jozabad, Hanan, and Pelaiah - then instructed the people in the Law while everyone remained in their places. 8 They read from the Book of the Law of God and clearly explained the meaning of what was being read, helping the people understand each passage. 9 Then Nehemiah the governor, Ezra the priest and scribe, and the Levites who were interpreting for the people said to them, "Don't mourn or weep on such a day as this! For today is a sacred day before the LORD your God." For the people had all been weeping as they listened to the words of the Law. 10 And Nehemiah continued, "Go and celebrate with a feast of rich foods and sweet drinks, and share gifts of food with people who have nothing prepared. This is a sacred day before our Lord. Don't be dejected and sad, for the joy of the LORD is your strength!" (New Living Translation)

13 여호수아가 여리고 근처에 있었을 때, 눈을 들어 보니 어떤 사람이 자기 앞에 칼을 들고 서 있는 것이 보였습니다. 여호수아는 그에게 다가가 “당신은 우리 편이요, 아니면 적의 편이요?”라고 물었습니다. 14 그 사람은 “나는 누구의 편도 아니다. 나는 여호와의 군대 사령관으로 왔다”고 대답했습니다. 그러자 여호수아는 땅에 엎드려, 그에게 물었습니다. “주의 종인 저에게 하실 말씀이 무엇입니까?” 15 여호와의 군대 사령관은 “너의 신을 벗어라. 네가 서 있는 곳은 거룩한 곳이다”라고 말했습니다. 여호수아는 그의 말 대로 했습니다. 13 When Joshua was near the town of Jericho, he looked up and saw a man standing in front of him with sword in hand. Joshua went up to him and demanded, "Are you friend or foe?" 14 "Neither one," he replied. "I am the commander of the LORD's army." At this, Joshua fell with his face to the ground in reverence. "I am at your command," Joshua said. "What do you want your servant to do?" 15 The commander of the LORD's army replied, "Take off your sandals, for the place where you are standing is holy." 성경말씀: 이사야 40:25-31

25 거룩하신 분, 곧 하나님께서 말씀하신다. “너희가 나를 누구에게 비기겠느냐? 누구를 나와 견줄 수 있겠느냐?” 26 눈을 들어 하늘을 바라보아라. 누가 이것들을 창조하였느냐? 그분께서 모든 별들을 하나씩 이끌어 내시며 각각 그 이름대로 부르신다. 그분은 매우 강하시고 능력이 많으셔서 그 이름을 하나도 빠뜨리지 않으신다. 27 야곱 백성아, 너희가 어찌하여 불평하느냐? 이스라엘 백성아, 어찌하여 말하기를, “여호와께서는 나의 어려움을 모르고 계신다. 내 하나님께서는 나의 간절한 부르짖음을 무시하신다”라고 하느냐? 28 너희가 알지 못하였느냐? 너희가 듣지 못하였느냐? 여호와께서는 영원하신 하나님이시며, 온 세계를 창조하신 분이다. 주께서는 지치지도 않으시고 피곤해하지도 않으신다. 아무도 주의 크신 지혜를 알지 못한다. 29 여호와께서 지친 사람에게 힘을 주시며, 약한 사람에게 능력을 넘치도록 주신다. 30 아이라도 지치고 피곤해하며 젊은이라도 넘어지고 쓰러지지만, 31 여호와를 의지하는 사람은 새 힘을 얻으며, 독수리가 하늘 높이 솟아오르듯 올라갈 수 있다. 그러한 사람은 뛰어도 지치지 않으며, 걸어도 피곤하지 않을 것이다. 25 “To whom will you compare me? Who is my equal?” asks the Holy One. 26 Look up into the heavens. Who created all the stars? He brings them out like an army, one after another, calling each by its name. Because of his great power and incomparable strength, not a single one is missing. 27 O Jacob, how can you say the Lord does not see your troubles? O Israel, how can you say God ignores your rights? 28 Have you never heard? Have you never understood? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of all the earth. He never grows weak or weary. No one can measure the depths of his understanding. 29 He gives power to the weak and strength to the powerless. 30 Even youths will become weak and tired, and young men will fall in exhaustion. 31 But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint.
